HD HEV Charger Model
« on: June 24, 2005, 06:22:02 PM »

I was bored, so I made this.  I might convert it to HL:E when it comes out, but for now it's going to sit on my hdd unless I come up with some way to use it.

Meh, I don't like. Just a repeated pattern and a ridiculously high res texture for that tiny thing causing an enormus flickering constantly which hurt my eyes.

:/ I can't texture too well, this is the best I can do, really.  I worked like an hour on the "Charger Ready" screen, and maybe 45 min on the HEV logo, soon I got fed up with my bad skinning skills and just made flat colors for some of the machinery inside and the "Charger Empty" screen looks like crap because I wanted it exactly like the Ready screen, so I desaturated the green, erased the Ready text, put a red Empty in its place, made a glow around empty, and gaussian blurred it to death.

Hm, the model looks good, and i really like the black H.E.V. on the top and the green charger ready logo,
but the orange base needs a heavy improvement, it should look more like metal.
The warnig is a nice idea, but it also needs a little bit more work.
Keep on working! ;)

You should use HEV-charger (which can ve found, where Alyx teaches you to use Gravity-Gun) from HL2 as a base - maybe it could look better. :)

You should put one of these in the bottom right hand corner instead of some more dials/knobs.  And the warning sign should be pealing and have the bold stick figures instead of the ones you have made in paint, also it needs a texture to show the difference in the model/shadows.

I think that the warning should be removed, too high-res for such a little warning.
Why not just take the old charger and model it a bit more?

xonxt: That's what I based it from.

Grundle: The original charger texture didn't have one of those, it had some piping, knobs, and other whatsits.

Sergeant Kelly: I could probably blur the warning label a bit so it doesn't go all crazy at a distance.  And I wouldn't drop all of this to start over again with the old charger.

You're not going to have piping, knobs, and other whatsits? It made it look... different.

It's ok. execpt the little stick figure thing. change it to with HOW TO USE. and maybe a small warning. but that stick figure thing has got to go.

I think the textures need to show some wear and tear. Something like the HL2 one.

As I posted in another thread, here's my attempt at an HEV charger :)
